Children's Books Aplenty at Spring Book Sale

Hundreds of children's books are available for 50¢ at Weaver Spring Book Sale

Children’s stories expand the imagination of young listeners and readers. Parents, grandparents, home school parents, pre-school and early childhood teachers are encouraged to attend the Spring Book Sale at Weaver Library, 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, April 23 from 1-5 p.m. The sale will take place in the Champlin Program Room.

The Spring Book Sale, sponsored by Friends of the East Providence Public Library, features a large selection of books for children, including bookcases full of hard cover picture books. For your convenience, there are bins of board books for the youngest listeners, beginner readers for those just learning to read, pop-up books, book sets and activity books with fun projects. Also available are bundles of soft cover books for all ages and young adult books. All children’s and young adult books are priced at only 50¢. Soft cover bundles of books, also priced at 50¢, contain two to four books, packaged with an elastic band, offering an even greater bargain. In addition to children’s and young adult books, the book sale also features games, puzzles, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes for youngsters.

A Members Only Preview Sale for Friends of the East Providence Public Library will be held on Thursday, April 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Individuals who are not Friends can join for a $5 per person annual membership fee, payable at the door. All paid members are welcome to purchase books at this advance sale. Bookshelves are continuously restocked throughout the weekend, so visit more than once to see a wide variety of books.

In addition to children’s books, there are novels, large print books, biographies and memoirs. Books on sports, art, music, poetry, business, history, cooking, health, self-help, gardening, home repair, writing, religion, travel and leisure activities are also available, as well as comic books.
