Cicilline to Bring Over 40 Organizations Together to Help Seniors at Resources Fair in East Providence

PAWTUCKET, RI – On Monday, June 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) will host a free Senior Resources Fair at the East Providence Senior Center located on 610 Waterman Avenue in East Providence. Representatives from more than 40 local, state, and federal agencies that serve and assist seniors, caregivers, and adults with disabilities will be on hand to provide valuable assistance and information to seniors and their families.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, 26.8% of Rhode Island’s population – 282,470 people – is 55 and over. With more and more seniors now “aging in place,” there is an increasing need to provide seniors and their caregivers with information about in-home healthcare, products and services for the disabled, help with utility payments, transportation, housing, and elder safety.

Cicilline’s Senior Resources Fair will feature representatives from more than 40 agencies and organizations, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration, the Rhode Island Division of Elderly Affairs, and Rhode Island AARP.  Participating organizations will provide information on resources available to seniors and caregivers, and Cicilline’s constituent services staff will be on hand to answer questions regarding constituent services.
