Computer Science Education Week in Providence with Citizens Bank

Earlier this month, instructors from local companies, the nonprofit IntraCity Geeks taught Hour of Code classes to 1,500 Providence students

Citizens Bank colleagues, along with colleagues from InfoSys and Dassault Systèmes, volunteered to help children learn coding as part of the recent Computer Science Education Week/Hour of Code initiative. More than 280 middle and high school students received their first exposure to coding, including students from Providence schools Nathan Bishop Middle School, Paul Cuffee Middle School, ESEK Hopkins Middle School and Times2 and E-Cubed Academy. Citizens Bank provided $7,500 in funding to enable the event by covering the costs of class materials, instructors and t-shirts. Here, Geoffery Gunter, SVP, Commercial Technologies at Citizens teaches a student about coding.
