Convenience Store Robbed at Gunpoint

Two armed suspects stole cash from the Big Apple Convenience Store on Burgess Avenue in East Providence Thursday night.

Two men robbed at gunpoint the Big Apple Convenience Store on Burgess Avenue in East Providence last night, Dec. 20.

The robbery took place at about 7:37 pm, said East Providence Det. Capt. Richard Frazier.

"Two suspects entered the store wearing dark clothing with bandanas over their faces," said Frazier. "One of the suspects threatened the 25-year-old male clerk with a gun demanding cash."

An undetermined amount of cash was taken from the register, Frazier said.

"The clerk was shaken up but otherwise unharmed," he said. "The suspects fled on foot prior to the arrival of police."

The store does have a video surveillance system, Frazier said. It captured the robbery.

"We are in the process of getting a copy of the video," Frazier said.
