Cop Cited for 'Going Above, Beyond'

East Providence patrol officer Ryan Vose recognized by City Council for talking a suicidal teen out of taking his own life.

East Providence police patrol officer Ryan Vose was cited with a proclamation from the City Council Tuesday night for talking a suicidal teen out of taking his own life a few weeks ago. Assistant Mayor Thomas Rose read the proclamation, which recognized Vose's "going above and beyond the call of duty." The teen climbed around the suicide fence at the Potter Street overpass of Route 195 during rush hour. Vose persuaded him to climb back to safety while traffic was stopped for about 10 minutes.
