Dog Abuse Suspect Fails to Appear in Court
Carlos Alvarez was charged last summer in connection to an emaciated dog that was left outside the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Police are looking for the Rehoboth man who allegedly left a severely emaciated dog in a box outside the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals last July.
An arrest warrant was issued for Carlos Alvarez after he reportedly failed to appear in court, WPRI reports.
Alvarez, 46, who lives on Providence Street in Rehoboth, for unnecessary cruelty to animals and animal abandonment.

At the time, he cooperated with police after the .
Alvarez reportedly told police that the dog had been ill for a while and that its health had continued to deteriorate. He said he didn't have money to pay for treatment and accepted full responsibility.

Alvarez did not actually drop the dog off, Lt. Raymond Blinn said, but he owned the dog for about two years.
