Dunbar Avenue Fire Caused by Overloaded Electrical Circuit
The blaze engulfed a basement and first floor of the one-family house.
Firefighters struggled to put out a basement fire caused by an overloaded electrical circuit at 74 Dunbar Ave. at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon. According to scanner reports, the first floor of the house was also engulfed.
It was a challenge for firefighters to bring in extra hoses due to the amount of materials being stored in the basement, said Captain Oscar Elmasian. Heavy smoke was seen billowing from the eastern side of the building.
No one was in the one-family home at the time of the fire; a neighbor originally reported that a person was trapped in the basement, said fire department personnel. No one was injured.
