E.P. Man, 61, Charged With DUI
Barrington patrol officers pull over an East Providence man early Friday morning, Nov. 2, and charge him with drunk driving.

An East Providence man, 61, has been charged by Barrington police with driving drunk early Friday morning, Nov. 2.
Dennis M. Hurley, of 591 Willett Ave., faces charges of DUI first offense and refusing to submit to a chemical test. He was traveling north on County Road at about 3:25 am when he was pulled over at Congress Road.
Hurley’s vehicle was reportedly observed first near Walker Farm Lane “floating over the fog line,” said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. A patrol officer began following his vehicle and observed it swerving again over the double-yellow and fog lines on County Road, LaCross said.

Hurley was asked by a patrol officer about his driving, LaCross said, and he said only that he was tired after visiting a friend in Warren. But his speech was muddled, he had drooping eyes, and he smelled of alcohol, according to the police report.
Hurley was asked to take a field sobriety test, which he had difficulty completing. He refused to blow into a Breathalyzer, the police chief said.
