East Providence Beacon Bank branch helps lead the way to record-breaking RI summer food drive

More than 7,500 pounds of donations were collected

EAST PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, Aug. 25, 2026 — The Beacon Bank branch at

77 Highland Ave. helped the bank break its previous summer food drive records in Rhode Island by being one of the locations that collected the most donations, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and community support.

In all, the drive to help combat food insecurity collected more than 7,500 pounds of food that will benefit 14 local food pantries, including the East Bay Community Action Program.

The drive collected donations of non-perishable food at 23 Rhode Island locations from July 6 through Aug. 14 in partnership with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Donations were delivered to local pantries, so contributions would remain in the community where they were collected.

“This food drive is a powerful example of what can happen when our colleagues, customers and communities come together around a shared goal,” said Will Tsonos, president of the bank’s Rhode Island region.
