East Providence House Fire Displaces 1 Resident

Fire officials said the fire was difficult to extinguish, because the nearest fire hydrant was frozen.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A house fire in East Providence on Monday left one resident and two cats displaced, according to fire officials.

Firefighters arrived at the Warren Avenue home around 9:30 p.m. and found flames coming out the rear of the house.

Fire officials said the fire was difficult to extinguish, because the nearest fire hydrant was frozen. Firefighters found a second hydrant nearby and put out the flames.
