East Providence Man Accused of Stealing from Friend's Mother

Police have charged Matthew J. Travers, 19, of 47 North Broadway, with felony larceny in the theft of jewelry from a friend's mother, according to Providence Journal reports.

Investigators said that Sharon Saleh, of 8 Tryon Ave., noticed in December that three pairs of gold earrings and a gold watch were missing from her jewelry box. She suspected Travers, a friend of her son, who had visited her house.

Travers turned himself in last Wednesday. He was released pending a court appearance, according to the police log.
