East Providence Man Charged In City Car Break-Ins

Dakota Cronin, of East Providence, was arrested Friday and charged with injuring/tampering with vehicles.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence police said they arrested the man responsible for several recent car break-ins throughout the city.

Dakota Cronin, 27, of East Providence, was arrested Friday and charged with injuring/tampering with vehicles and weapons other than firearms prohibited.

Around 3 a.m., a patrol officer was conducting surveillance in the Riverside area, where the previous break-ins were reported. Police said the officer saw Cronin walking on Becker Avenue, who matched the description of the thief seen in surveillance video.

Police said they searched Cronin and found several items typically found in people's cars. East Providence police are still investigating other break-ins and asked theft victims to call Det. Dubois at 401-435-7600, extension 20023.
