East Providence Man Charged In Drunken Crash Into House

The crash caused a natural gas leak, which forced residents to evacuate.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence police identified the man they said drunkenly crashed his truck into a house.

Eric Bianco, 22, of East Providence, was arrested Thursday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test, refusal to submit to a preliminary breath test and several moving violations.

Fire officials said the crash happened around 5 a.m. on Tab Avenue. The crash caused severe structural damage and a natural gas leak.

Fire officials said residents were home when the crash happened. Emergency officials evacuated them, and none of them suffered any injuries.

Fire officials said Bianco and his passenger ran away after the crash, but were apprehended by officers. Police said both Bianco and his passenger suffered injuries during the crash.
