EP Mohawks Youth Lacrosse Registration for Spring 2017 Set to Open in the Coming Weeks

East Providence Mohawks Org. Program launching lacrosse for boys and girls. Visit www.eplax.org or www.EPMohawks.org

Lacrosse is a sport geared toward kids that love to run, who exhibit great hand-eye coordination, and who enjoy the thrill of competition (win or lose). The game is most fun when the ball moves quickly and the kids share the spotlight.

Similar to hockey and basketball, lacrosse loves scrappy play for loose balls, full field pressure in creating turnovers, and assisting the goal scorer. In Lacrosse assists and goals both equal one point in the scorebook. With each goal that goes up on the scoreboard, assists should follow on the stats sheet.
In stronghold lacrosse areas such as Long Island, football and lacrosse go hand-in-hand, as the field vision and awareness, and the overall toughness and contact of football, are excellent skills that carry over on the 110 x 60 yard field.

East Providence Mohawks Org. is extremely excited to be bringing lacrosse to the youth of East Providence. Damian Ramos, a long time native of EP, whose Mohawks have had great success with youth basketball especially, has brought on board Daniel Penengo to Direct the lacrosse portion of the Mohawks program. Penengo recently moved to Rhode Island and has been volunteering with EastBay Lacrosse these past few years. Penengo plans on utilizing his connections in the local lacrosse community to quickly bring the EP Lacrosse youth program up the ranks.
