Over two hundred seventh grade students from Edward R. Martin Middle School in East Providence, Rhode Island, will make real-life decisions to teach them how to responsibly manage their personal finances during the 5th Annual CU 4 Reality™ Student Financial Education Fair that will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Edward R. Martin Middle School, 111 Brown Street, East Providence, Rhode Island.

The CU4 Reality™Financial Education Program was developed to complement the middle school's financial education initiative for students.  During theschool year, monthly presentations were presented by credit union representatives on topics to help the students increase their understanding of the importance of managing their personal finances in order to be prepared for the financial challenges and lifestyle decisions they will face as adults. Sponsored by Navigant Credit Union, the CU 4 Reality™ Financial Education Fair is the culminating event that places students through a realistic budgeting experience during which they will make a series of spending decisions similar to the types made by a young adult.  The Fair provides the students the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom and interact with local businesses as consumers based on their chosen career and corresponding monthly income. The students will meet with representatives from Navigant Credit Union and various businesses and industries to include:  Best Buy, Capital Good Fund, Donahue Models and Talent, Donovan Travel, Elmwood Dodge, Kathleen’s Avon Boutique, Liberty Mutual, NCU Financial, Newman YMCA, RE/MAX River’s Edge, RISPCA, Serve Rhode Island, Stop and Shop, and others to help them gain a better appreciation of the importance of budgeting, financial planning and making wise purchasing decisions.
