EPOCH Assisted Living on the East Side will welcome filmmaker Marian Gagnon, PhD, on Friday, August 29 at 2 p.m. Gagnon will show her latest film, “America’s Forgotten Heroine: Ida Lewis, Keeper of the Light,” which brings the extraordinary story of America’s most famous woman lighthouse keeper to life. Lewis tended the Lime Rock Lighthouse in Newport for 50 years, during which time she received many medals and honors for rescuing 18 people. Following the film, Gagnon will discuss the making of her work and answer questions.
Gagnon is a writer, award-winning journalist, a director, producer and the founder of Goodnight Irene Productions: An Indie-Documentary Film Company. She also teaches film studies, journalism, visual literacy, speech communications and literature at Johnson & Wales University. This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
