Free Dinner Program for Kids at the Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of East Providence is gearing up for another great summer of programs, including offering the Kids Café dinner program free to all school aged children in East Providence.  Offered Tuesday – Friday evenings from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, Kids Café gives children a well-balanced meal, prepared each day by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank’s Community Kitchen, a culinary training program for low-income or unemployed adults.

“We are so proud to partner with the RI Community Food Bank to bring this amazing program to the children in East Providence.  The food is fantastic, and we feel that offering dinner at no cost is a great resource for area families.  We hope to spread the word this summer to serve even more meals here at the Boys & Girls Club.”

Kids Café is offered at the Club’s main location at 115 Williams Avenue.  There is no charge to any children for this program, which is open to both Club members and non-members.  A drop-in service, there is no need to register – children interested in dinner just need to check in at the Club’s front desk to let the staff know they are there.  For more information about the dinner program, call the Club’s main office at 401-434-6776; monthly menus are also available online at www.epbgc.org

The Boys & Girls Club of East Providence has been serving the youth in our community since 1932, with more than 275 children participating in programs each day.  Kids Cafe is a program of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank (RICFB) and is a registered trademark of Feeding America.  The objective of the Kids Cafe program is to create partnerships with community organizations that will assist us in providing supplemental evening meals to low income children in the state. The intent of Kids Cafe is to alleviate hunger among children in a dignified community setting. The program’s utmost concern is the emotional, educational and physical well-being of the children served.
