How Violent is East Providence?
The city reported the seventh-highest incidence of violent crime in the state.

There were two murders among 71 violent crimes reported in East Providence in 2012, according to statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report shows the 71 violent crimes in East Providence ranked the city 7th in Rhode Island. Providence (1,133), Pawtucket's (288) and Woonsocket (220) reported the most violent crimes.
Of the violent crimes in East Providence in 2013, there were 42 aggravated assaults, 14 robberies, 13 rapes and 2 homicides, according to information submitted by local law enforcement agencies.

The FBI compiles the information is releases to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year.
In addition to violent crimes, East Providence reported 834 property crimes in 2012 – 631 larcenies, 144 burglaries, 59 car thefts and 9 cases of arson.
