Man Allegedly Threatens Constable Serving Summons
East Providence police charge Mary Avenue man, 62, with disorderly conduct.

An East Providence man 62, was charged with disorderly conduct last Thursday afternoon, Feb. 21, after he reportedly threatened and spit at a RI constable.
James E. Silva, of 67 Mary Ave., allegedly tossed a summons being served on his wife in the air after it was handed to him by the constable about 3:45 pm, according to the arrest report.
He then allegedly followed the constable outside with “closed fists” and spit at him, refusing to accept the summons, according to testimony from the constable.

The constable returned to his car and reported the incident to East Providence police. He waited for a patrol officer to arrive to continue serving the summons.
Silva was taken to the police station and arraigned on the charge. He was released with a District Court date of March 5.
