Man Faces 3 Domestic Charges

East Providence police charge a man who said the altercation he had with a woman was to prevent her from killing herself.

An East Providence man who forcibly detained a woman from leaving a house they share faces three domestic charges.

Jean N. Daluz, of 267 North Brow St., was charged by East Providence police last Sunday, Nov. 11, with domestic simple assault and battery, domestic disorderly conduct, and domestic vandalism.

The charges were levied after he got into an altercation at about 4:30 pm with a woman who said she was going to kill herself. He told police that he drug her back up a stairs and into the house to “prevent her from jumping in the water.”

The woman told police that she did say she would kill herself but only as a way to force him to let her go. She was transported to Rhode Island hospital for evaluation.

The domestic vandalism charge stems from Daluz smashing the woman’s cell phone after he grabbed it from her. He received a summons to report to District Court.
