Man Turns DUI Into Assault on Cops
An East Providence man faces three simple assault charges on patrol officers.

An intoxicated East Providence man, 49, turned his arrest on a bench warrant for a DUI charge into three simple assault charges on police officers last Monday, Feb. 4.
William P. Rodwick, of 108 Cedar Ave., was spotted allegedly stumbling through the Save a Lot parking lot at about 5:15 when police officers approached him on the bench warrant. A few minutes later, he was being handcuffed after he allegedly resisted arrest.
Rodwick reportedly kicked the arresting officers in the chest when they placed him in the back of a patrol car. He later kicked a police officer when he was in the police station jail cell.

The man was held until he sobered up in the jail cell and then sent home with a date to appear in District Court on the original DUI and Monday assault charges.
