Maple Avenue Man Allegedly Assaults Two Officers in Station

While placing the Kyle Rebello in a cell, an officer sustained a laceration on his neck and another bruised his elbow.

A Maple Avenue man was arrested by after he violated bail for allegedly intimidating a witness and assaulted two officers while being held in the station.

According to reports, Kyle Rebello, 29, of 5 1/2 Maple Ave., in East Providence, was detained by police outside Buckets General Store on Bullocks Point Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28. He was wanted for questioning, according to reports.

Police also arrested Jennifer Barney, 26, of 25 Rosanna Ave., under a Superior Court bench warrant; she was with Rebello at the time, according to reports.

After Rebello was taken to the station, he allegedly grabbed one officer by the neck and continued to fight another. The scuffle ended when one of the officers brought Rebello to the ground; the officer hurt his elbow in the process. While on the ground, Rebello held his hands behind his back until an officer put a taser to his shoulder.

Once secured, he threatened to commit bodily harm and was taken to a hospital for a mental health referral, reads the report.

Rebello was charged with two counts of simple assault and battery, intimidating a witness and resisting arrest. He was sentenced to 90 days in the Adult Correctional Insitute, according to reports from police.
