Men Face Same Charge for Swiping Same Shirt
East Providence police arrest two men for allegedly shoplifting the same Polo shirt from Marshal's department store.

Two East Providence men faced shoplifting charges in District Court after they allegedly swiped identical sweaters from a department store on Friday, Dec. 7.
James E. Short, 24, of 76 Irving Ave., and Jeffrey Freitas, 27, of 10 Ormond Drive, were spotted by store security officers leaving Marshal’s department store reportedly with the Polo shirts. The shirts sold for $49.99.
The men split up after leaving the store, according to East Providence police. One man went into the nearby Stop & Shop supermarket. The other man went into a nearby liquor store. They had discarded the shirts.

With descriptions provided by the security officers, patrol officers located the two men and arrested them. Besides the shoplifting charge, they were told never to return to the department store or face trespassing charges.
