Rescue crews from East Providence and Seekonk were sent to to the corner of Pawtucket and Newport avenues at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon after a SUV containing five people clipped a vehicle containing elderly passengers and rolled over. According to reports from the police department, the driver of the SUV attempted to beat a red light and hit the other car. Lots of glass was present at the scene. The elderly passengers refused medical treatment; all five of the SUV passengers were transported to the hospital. The area is known for heavy traffic.
