The will be renamed in honor of <a href="http://mcgregormemorial.org/about" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Maj. Alister McGregor</a>, a city officer and U.S. Air Force veteran who was killed during a firearms training exercise with the Special Reaction Team in 2001. Maj. McGregor was an expert in the use of deadly force and school shootings, said Major Bruce Rogers during a city council meeting. He was a member of the East Providence Police Department for 16 years.
