Providence Local to Give Workshop on Regulation of Regenerative Medicine

Providence local will be giving a workshop on FDA regulation of regenerative medicine in New Jersey and California.

Providence local Tom Webster, Chair and Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Northeastern University College of Engineering, will be giving a workshop on FDA regulation of regenerative medicine July 14 and July 15 in Irvine, CA, and October 20 and October 21 in Newark, NJ.

Professor Webster was elected for this honor because of his experience with obtaining FDA approval for medical devices developed in his lab. The seminar specifically covers the “FDA’s Regulation of Regenerative Medicine including Stem Cell Treatments, Tissue Engineering and Gene Therapies.” This tutorial will cover the use of stem cells in medicine, where the field has been, and where it’s going. There will also be examples of FDA approval and what was/is needed to receive it.

Professor Webster is the director of the Nanomedicine Laboratory which designs, synthesizes, and evaluates nanomaterials and their medicinal applications. Professor Webster received his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in biomedical engineering.
