Sacred Heart School Tested For Carbon Monoxide Following Concerns

A faculty member reported feeling unwell around 12:30 p.m. and was concerned about a potential gas leak in the school.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Emergency responders were called to Sacred Heart School on Monday afternoon following reports of possibly elevated levels of carbon monoxide. East Providence police said at 1:30 p.m. that the school had been declared safe and there was no longer an emergency situation.

According to WPRI, police and fire officials were called to the Purchase Street school around 12:30 p.m. after a faculty member said they were feeling sick and was concerned about possible gas exposure. Fire officials tested the air quality in the school but did not find any evidence of carbon monoxide, WPRI said, and no one was taken to the hospital.

According to East Providence police, the incident was resolved by about 1:30 p.m.
