Serafim C. Barbosa, 94

Serafim C. Barbosa of East Providence died on Dec. 25, 2012. He was 94.

He was the husband of the late Maria do Carmo (Sousa), who died in October. Formerly of Pawtucket, he was born in Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Manuel C. and Francelina Clotides (Melo) Barbosa.

He was a devoted family man and will be remembered for his sense of humor and poetic nature. He is survived also by his daughters, Helena M. Dias and her husband, Eduardo, of Petaluma, Calif.; Ines M. Bush and her husband, Robert, of North Scituate, RI and Mary Alice Bush of North. Providence. He leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Diane Dias and the brother of the late Manuel Cabral Barbosa, Maria dos Anjos Cabral Barbosa and Lourdes Torres.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 9:45 am from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am in St. Anthony's Church, 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket.

Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence. Calling hours are today, Dec. 28, from 5 to 8 pm.
