Unrelated Arrests Follow Van Crash
East Providence police charge two people with drunk driving after a woman fell asleep at the wheel in an unrelated crash; her van hit utility pole on Warren Avenue early Sunday morning.

Three people were arrested early Sunday morning, Dec. 3, after a minivan crashed into a utility pole. None of the arrests involved the collision, according to WPRI-TV.
The crash occurred at about 1 am in front of the Chelo's restaurant on Warren Avenue, said Lieutenant Raymond Blinn of the East Providence Police Department.
The driver reportedly feel asleep behind the wheel and veered off the road. Two passengers, including a child, suffered only minor injuries.

The three arrests were made while the road was shut down so that National Grid could make repairs.
A North Smithfield woman, 22, was charged with drunk driving after her vehicle jumped a curb and hit a police cruiser. So was an East Providence man, 31, who allegedly drove around a police officer directing traffic. A Pennsylvania man was arrested after he tried to drive around the accident scene and got into a loud argument with his passengers when they go lost.
