William B. Kenney, 88
He was a senior probation officer for 35 years and a graduate of Providence College.

William B. Kenney of Rumford in East Providence died Monday, Dec. 17, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was 88.
He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Lemon) Kenney. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Dr. William B. and Mary (Duggan) Kenney. He was a Rumford resident since 1962.
Kenney was a Senior Probation officer in the 7th District Court in East Providence for 35 years before retiring in 1983. He was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket and Providence College. He had did graduate work at Boston University.

He was a former president of the Mal Brown Club at Providence College, a past president of the East Providence Jaycees and a former vice president of the R.I. Jaycees.
He served also as the vice president of the Rumford Lions Club and secretary of the East Bay Mental Health Board. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and a former member of their Parish Council and was active in Troop 88 Boy Scouts there. He was a member of the R.I. Probation & Parole Association.

Besides his wife he leave a son, Mark W. Kenney of Rumford; a daughter, Melissa Silvia and her husband, Wayne, of Warwick; and a grandson, Matthew J. Kenney and his wife, Linda, of Rumford. He was the brother of the late Ellen McClurg and Mary Kenney.
Calling hours are today from 4 to 8pm at the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waternam St., Providenc. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 am from funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial in St Margaret’s Church, Pawtucket Ave., at 10 am.
Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the R.I. Heart Association.
