Woman Strikes Boy on Scooter Then She's Run Over by Her Car

An East Providence woman reportedly strikes boy, 8, and then suffers serious injuries when her vehicle runs over her.

 

An East Providence woman struck a boy, 8, on a scooter while backing out of her Algonquin Road driveway late Friday afternoon, Dec. 28, according to the Providence Journal.

The woman, identified by other sources as Cheryl Greaves, then was crushed against another car after she pulled into a nearby lot at 405 North Broadway to remove possible incriminating evidence from her vehicle as police arrived, according to the police. The evidence was believed to be alcohol, according to other sources.

East Providence Police Lt. Armen Garo said the boy on the scooter and the woman collided about 4:20 pm.

The woman reportedly went to find the boy's father elsewhere on Algonquin Road, according to Garo. The boy was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with possible broken bones.

The woman reportedly suffered two broken legs and a serious head injury, according to other sources. Her car apparently was not put into park when she got out of it and it rolled into her and then into the street.

The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by East Providence rescue. An investigation continues.
