Proposed Zero Tax Increase Announced for Second Year

East Providence proposes a zero property tax increase for the second year in a row.

Last night’s City Council meeting brought another round of good news for City residents as a proposed zero property tax increase was announced for the second year in a row. Delivered by City Manager Paul Lemont, the budget proposal aligns with the recent string of positive financial reports coming from the City. This news follows the announcement that the City has jumped two bond ratings up to “A” status. The 2015/2016 proposed budget also addresses the capital for improvements and departmental additions.
In addition to this announcement, the City continues to strengthen it’s financial position while maintaining a budgetary surplus for the third straight year in a row. The City Council has played an integral part of passing very fiscally conservative budgets which have aided in these fiscal improvements.
The direction East Providence is heading is very bright as key projects such as the development of our Waterfront remains in the immediate vision and the improvement of our water system with replacing and relining existing water mains.
East Providence has emerged from a challenging time and showing financial strength instilling confidence in our residents.
