EXETER, RI — Rhode Island's only water park has shut down.
Yawgoo Valley Water Park announced the closing on its website.

"After careful consideration, we have made the decision to permanently close the waterpark," the message said.
"This decision reflects long-term operational considerations and the need to focus resources on other areas of the property," according to the park's website.

The defunct park had two enclosed water slides, a full-size swimming pool with a depth ranging from 3 to 6 feet, and a foot-deep kiddie pool.

While the water park is no more, Yawgoo Valley's other attractions, including skiing trails, "will continue to operate," according to the farewell message.

"We are grateful to the many guests, families, campers, recreation groups, and staff members who made the waterpark a memorable part of the community over the years," the message said. "Your support and participation have meant a great deal to us."
