• Magnet fisherman has found 3 explosives in RI waters this summer (wpri.com) — Emergency crews in Exeter responded Thursday after a magnet fisherman pulled a 105 mm military shell from the Pawtuxet River, the third explosive he's found in Rhode Island waters this summer. Police, firefighters, ATF agents and the state bomb squad safely removed and rendered the projectile safe while investigators continue examining its origin.
   

• From police training to housing help, where $5.4M will be spent (newportri.com) — A new round of Rhode Island Foundation grants includes funding for the Tomaquag Museum in Exeter, supporting its role in statewide cultural and community priorities. Overall, $5.4 million is being distributed to nonprofits for health care, housing, job training, arts, and education initiatives that aim to strengthen communities across Rhode Island over the next several years.
