• Outdoor paintings on view indoors at library (jamestownpress.com) — An exhibit of plein air paintings by nine Rhode Island artists is now on display at the Jamestown Philomenian Library through Sept. 12, featuring many familiar island scenes like Conanicus Avenue, Windmist Farm, and Dutch Harbor. Local painter and Jamestown resident Mary Lou Walter joins others who regularly paint at Fort Wetherill, Beavertail, and The Dumplings, inviting you to see the beauty of Jamestown through their eyes.

• LGBTQ+ Victory Fund Endorses Angela Lima for Rhode Island State Senate (newportthisweek.com) — Residents of Jamestown and Newport could see local representation in the Rhode Island Senate if Angela Lima wins, as she would be the first out LGBTQ person from the two communities to serve there. Backed by the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, she's campaigning on housing, healthcare, education, environmental protections, and civil rights, arguing that lived experience matters in shaping statewide policy.
