3 Town Snow Plows Stolen, Johnston Man Arrested: Cops

The Johnston man was charged with receiving stolen goods, police said.

JOHNSTON, RI — A Johnston man was caught with three town-owned snow plows stolen from the parks and recreation department, police said.

Joseph Macari, 46, was charged with receiving stolen goods after one of the pilfered plows was seen attached to his Chevrolet Silverado while it was parked in the driveway of his Jasmine Lane home, the Johnston Police Department said in a media release.

"A court-authorized search warrant was executed at the residence, where the remaining two stolenplows were located and recovered inside the garage," the release said.

A parks and recreation employee discovered the plows had been stolen about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the release.

"Video surveillance revealed that at approximately 1:04 a.m., a white Chevrolet Silverado arrivedat the location," the release said. "Two males dressed in dark clothing were observed attaching one of the plows to the vehicle and leaving the area with it."

The Silverado returned about 45 minutes later and drove off with the second plow and within an hour was back for the third one, according to the release.

While the plows were recovered and Macari arrested, the investigation remains active, the release said, and anyone with additional information was encouraged to contact Detective Michael Andreozzi at 401-757-3140.
