Father's day can be a sad day for many of us that have lost our dads but I wrote this for everyone to let the tears be those of love and the joy in the remembering our dads.
He was a giant among men in the mind of his son,
could climb the highest mountains could lift up a ton,
he must have had powers a superhero in disguise,
well at least that’s how he appeared in this son’s eyes.
When life became hard at least how a schoolboy sees it,
and I just couldn't do the math or even get a base hit,
once again he came through with advise that was so wise,
that my tears turned to joy like I had just touched the skies.
As I stepped out on my own to take on the world,
My eyes showed confidence but my mind was a whirl,
and in the evening so tired from carrying life’s weight,
a simple phone call from you dad and I knew I could be great.
With sons of my own now, a career and a wife,
it’s because of your love I can take on this life,
There’s still those moments when I stare into the coffee in my mug,
But the fear melts away just remembering the warmth of your hug.
I Love you dad!
