Catch a local team in a playoff hunt, or check out the latest super hero movie.

Concerts, comedy, rugby, movies and billiards top the list of activities for this weekend. The best part? You can enjoy much of it without venturing far from home.
- If you're interested in staying local, why not visit Corner Pocket to play some pool after enjoying some good food? If you visit on a Friday night, you can even compete in the trivia contest at 9 p.m.
- The Rhode Island Rebellion face the New Haven Warriors this Saturday night at Classical High School. Tickets are $5, and the game starts at 8 p.m. The Rebellion are in the hunt for a playoff spot, so get out there and support the local rugby team.
- has a full weekend planned. Besides food and drinks, the patio is open and live music is on the itinerary. The Coppola Sisters play on Friday night, while Coco performs Saturday night. Performances take place between 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
- This Friday, Acerose headlines a show at Lupo's with Scare Don't Fear, Deathwish, By Land and Sea, and Condolence. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10 in advance.
- Captain America: The First Avenger opens this weekend. This lastest super hero film tells the story of a scrawny guy who volunteers to become a scientifically modifed super solder. - If you're frugal and looking for an inexpensive night out, The Lighthouse Bar once again comes to the rescue. This Saturday at8:30 p.m. SLAM takes the stage to perform covers of classic rock bands, such as AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. As usual, admission is free.
- This RI Comedy Connection in East Providence hosts Shaun Bedgood for two shows this weekend at 8 p.m. Friday and 9 p.m. Saturday. On Friday, you can also stay after the show and catch Hardcore Comedy, which starts at 10:30 p.m.
