State Police Say Body Found on I-295 in Johnston Was North Providence Woman

Police are asking for the public's help with information.

JOHNSTON, RI—State police have released the identity of the deceased person found lying on the roadside on I-295 in the vicinity of Route 6 early this morning.

She has been identified as Janelle J. Morris, 26, of North Providence.

Morris was found around 4:35 a.m. Friday when Rhode Island State Police Scituate Barracks responded to several calls about a woman lying in the road.

Members of her family have been notified, police said.

"The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by members of the Rhode Island State Police Detective Bureau and a report of the cause of death is pending from the Rhode Island Medical Examiners Office," state police said.
