Can The Cougars Go 12-0?

The Johnston-North Providence varsity high school hockey team is scheduled to host East Providence at the Smithfield Ice Rink tonight at 7.

Think about what you were doing on Dec. 31, 2010. That was the last loss for the Johnston-North Providence Cougars, who fell to Mt. Hope, 6-1, that night.

Tonight at 7 at Smithfield Ice Rink, the Cougars are scheduled to take the ice and put their 13-month unbeaten streak β€” which included a two-shutout sweep of Mt. Hope in the Division III state finals last March β€” on the line against East Providence.

Currently holding a 7-2 divisional record, the Townies are in a tough scrap with Mt. Hope and Tolman, who each have a 7-3 record, to secure one of the two first-round bye slots in the postseason.
