Charges Against Motorcyclist Involved in Fatal Accident May Be Updated, Johnston Police Say

The police are working with the medical examiner's officer and the state Attorney General to decide if John Palermo should face additional.

JOHNSTON, RI — Charges could be updated against the motorcycle driver who allegedly barreled into a propane grill at a pig roast on Angelico Street. Three people were hurt in the fire and explosion.

Two of the victims recently died. A third person also suffered injuries. Deputy police Chief Dan Parrillo said today Johnston police are working with the state Attorney General and with the medical examiner's office to determine if the two recent deaths were the direct result of the Aug. 19 fire and explosion.

Palermo, 64, was originally charged with two felony counts of driving to endanger, personal injury resulting, for the two seriously injured victims.

He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of driving to endanger, personal injury resulting, for the third victim.

Finally, he faced another misdemeanor charge for reckless driving.
