Cougars Take State Title In Division III Hockey

The co-op team representing Johnston and North Providence seals the championship with a 1-0 victory over Mt. Hope High School.

For the first time since the 1998-99 season, will raise a banner honoring a state championship hockey team β€” and for North Providence, which combined its hockey program with JHS two years ago, it will be the first hockey title since 1996.

The Cougars, a co-op squad representing the one-time rivals, captured the Division III high school boys' hockey state championship after defeating the Mt. Hope Huskies, 4-0, in Game 2 of the finals at Schneider Arena in Providence on March 18.
