Downed Tree in Johnston & Snapped Pole in Smithfield Snarled Traffic
Gusty winds toy with utility poles and trees, making travel difficult in places.
JOHNSTON, RI — The state Department of Transportation says the tree that fell on Route 6 at Reservoir Road has now been removed.

A section of road had been closed.
As similar story was playing out in Smithfield because the Johnston tree was not the only issue motorists faced today. In Smithfield, a utility pole snapped and caused the closure of West Greenville Road near Smith Avenue. That road also was reopened after about two hours.
