EVENT OF THE DAY: Panthers Baseball At McCoy
The JHS varsity baseball team begins a best-of-three series this afternoon against The Prout School.
McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket is the site for this afternoon's Division II playoff finals game between the Panthers and The Prout School Crusaders.
The Panthers enter the game as the number-one seed in D-II, after compiling a 17-2 regular season record. Prout topped D-II South with a 15-3 record during the regular season.
The Crusaders' run to the finals included victories over Classical and two wins against Tolman High School of Pawtucket, before securing a two-game sweep in their best-of-three series against Central in the semifinals.

Johnston defeated Mt. Hope and Juanita Sanchez twice prior to their 2-1 series won over Woonsocket, which included a 14-8 decision on June 3.
Today's game is scheduled to begin at McCoy Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Game 2 is set for June 8 at 3:30 p.m.
