Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will hold a Nutrition Stop-by event as well as Body Mass Index Screening, free and open to the public.
Good nutrition is a key component to leading a healthy lifestyle, but there is so much information available that it’s easy to be overwhelmed and confused. A certified Health Educator will be available at this event to answer any questions related to good nutrition. Additionally, attendees will be given tips on how to easily improve their diet as well as an opportunity to participate in valuable hands-on nutrition demonstrations.
To help individuals better determine if they are leading a healthy lifestyle, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is offering a free body mass index (BMI) screenings. BMI is used as a screening tool to identify possible weight problems for adults. However, BMI is not a diagnostic tool. For example, a person may have a high BMI. However, to determine if excess weight is a health risk, a healthcare provider would need to perform further assessments. These assessments might include skinfold thickness measurements, evaluations of diet, physical activity, family history, and other appropriate health screenings.
