Polisena Named 'Rising Star' in Relief Bill Debate

Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena was included in GoLocalProv.com's Apr. 25 review of "Who's Hot and Who's Not."

Mayor Joseph Polisena received a nod of support from GoLocalProv.com, whose Dan McGowan named the Johnston mayor on the website's Apr. 25 list of "Who's Hot" in Rhode Island politics.

McGowan noted Polisena's work to raise support for Gov. Lincoln Chafee's municiapl relief bills — including a to publicly appeal to the General Assembly.

Chafee's legislation went before the state House Finance Committee last week, but the panel took no votes.

"The Johnston Mayor isn’t quite dealing with the financial problems of Mayor Taveras in Providence or Mayor Fontaine in Woonsocket, but if anyone has emerged as a rising star from the municipal relief package, it’s Polisena," McGowan wrote. "He’s certainly someone to watch over the next two years."

And today, the website noted that Polisena currently has more than $100,000 in campaign funds available.
