I-295 Fatal Crash: Woonsocket Teen Killed Monday
The teen's car went off the road and hit a tree, state police said. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m.

JOHNSTON, RI β A Woonsocket teenager died Monday after a crash on I-295 around 2:30 p.m. According to police, Lungpalinya Phouvong, 17, of Woonsocket, was killed after her car went off the road in Johnston and struck a tree.
She was taken to Hasbro Childrenβs Hospital, where she later was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Two passengers in her car survived. Both juveniles were treated at Hasbro Childrenβs Hospital and later released.

Rhode Island State Police Capt. Derek Borek said the car was heading south on I-295 when it went off the road and struck a tree just north of the Exit 4 ramp to Plainfield Pike. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
