JHS Ranks Mid-Pack in Top High School List

ranks 26th best in the state out of 51 schools surveyed in GoLocalProvβs Third Annual Top High Schools list, which was released on Monday.
The list included public, charter and technical schools, and factored reading, math and writing proficiency, student-to-teacher ratio, spending per student, four-year graduation rates, average verbal, math and writing SAT scores into the rankings. View the complete list here.

According to the website, 75 percent of JHS students scored at or above proficient in reading, 56 percent in writing, and 26 percent in math.
In 2011, 82.9 percent of eligible Johnston seniors graduated β , school officials reported in January β and a 12-point improvement since 2007.

Johnston checked in with a $15,860 per-pupil cost for high school students, slightly ahead of #22 North Providence, which spent $14,212, #13 Smithfield ($13,285), and #9 Scituate ($12,667).
The website also noted Johnston's 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, equal to North Providence and Smithfield, and slightly above Scituate's 9:1.
