'Malfunction' Leads To Damage Of Door At Fire HQ
No injuries were reported, Chief Timothy McLaughlin said.
A truck hit and damaged one of the garage doors at the fire department's headquarters at Station 3 last Tuesday, requiring the replacement of the door at an estimated cost of $2,500 to $3,000, Fire Chief Timothy McLaughlin said. No one was injured in the incident, he added.
During an interview on April 25, McLaughlin said that Ladder 1 was leaving the station on a call when the garage door failed to open all the way.
"It appeared to be some sort of malfunction with the door," McLaughlin said.

The driver of the fire truck didn't see the partially-opened door since his view was obstructed by the ladder on the truck's roof, McLaughlin explained, and when the truck emerged from the garage, the ladder hit the door and damaged it.
McLaughlin said a replacement door has been ordered, and estimated the cost at between $2,500 and $3,000.

In the meantime, since the garage door is no longer functional, Ladder 1 is being stored at Station 4 at night.
