Massachusetts State Police Capture Johnston Man After Chase & School Lockdown
Massachusetts State Police captured a Johnston man after a foot chase that led to a school lockdown.

LANCASTER, MA — Massachusetts State police on Friday arrested a Johnston man after a car chase through Bolton, Mass., and then a foot chase through Lancaster. Elvis A. Hopkins, 36, was spotted running across Route 70. He led police on a foot chase behind a school and was ultimately captured.
The situation began around 8:31 a.m., state police said. Bolton Police responded to a residence in their town for a suspicious person, who fled a residence in a vehicle. They located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. They called off the chase, however, due to safety concerns. Hopkins's car eventually crashed near the intersection of Route 117 and Route 70 in Lancaster. He fled on foot.
State Police sent dogs, as well as Troop C Community Action Team, Troop C Headquarters, and Office of Media Relations to assist. A Lancaster firefighter saw the suspect run across Route 70. Trooper Donald Wilmot located Hopkins running behind the Perkins School. He was taken into custody at approximately 10:31 a.m.
